India Wins The Under-19 World Cup 2018

India Wins The Under-19 World Cup 2018: India won a record 4th Under-19 World Cup title, thrashed Australia in the Final. India remain unbeaten in this tournament, their unbeaten campaign has comes to an and, and finally they win that tournament. In the finals Australia won the toss and choose to bat first they were all out on 216 in 47.2 overs at Bay Oval. Jonathan Merlo top scored in the Aussies side with 76 runs while four Indians bowlers took two wickets each. Opening batsman Manjot Kalra scored an unbeaten 101 in the finals. The lefthander Kalra’s scored 101 came from 102 balls.

India cruised in reply to 220-2 and never looked threatened in surpassing Australia’s total in the 39th over, and India won the Under-19 World Cup for the fourth time with an eight wicket victory over Australia.

India which lost the final in 2014 against West Indies now comfortably win in 2018 against Australia in the finals of Under-19 Cricket World  Cup. India also beat Australia by 100 runs in the opening match of the tournament, and till then they was undefeated rest of the way. It was India’s sixth appearance in the Under-19 final, they won the tournament fourth time, while Australia had made the final five times, and winning the tournament three times in the history of Under-19 World Cup.

India Under-19 Coach Rahul Dravid:

Rahul Dravid spoke about the effort that the entire batch put on for the last 14 month and made them achieve the goal, which bore fruit. “I think, just the whole preparation and planning that has gone into developing under-19 players, and not necessarily players in this World Cup, is a good process that we’ve put in place”. They deserve it. It’s been a lot of sacrifices, the way they played in the World Cup.

Dravid said that the real challenge begins now.

Coaching this team I tend to get a lot of attention, but it is really about the quality of support staff that we have had and the effort they have put in has been wonderful.

India will take the confidence from the fact that they have been undefeated in the tournament so far. From captain Prithvi Shaw to Shubman Gill to young and exciting quicks in Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi showed their class and got better with each passing game.
